SKF high-temperature bearing units provide self-lubricating and drip-free solutions suited for continuous baking oven applications typically hostile to conventional bearing types. A graphite internal cage delivers the required lubrication to promote cost savings in time and money otherwise spent on grease and related maintenance. Drip-free performance eliminates any need for grease cleanup and can help contribute to a facility’s overall HACCP compliance objectives. These high-temperature bearing units (rated 662°F and 350°C) combine proprietary technology and quality materials and manufacture to achieve long-lasting and uninterrupted service life up to 40,000 hours. Frequent re-lubrication and/or replacement become unnecessary. Applications for these bearing units include automated baking ovens for snacks, breads, breakfast foods from cereals to energy bars, and wafers, among many others. The bearing units are recommended for shaft speeds up to 100 rpm and can be specified by OEMs or serve as drop-in replacements.
Among other features of these bearing units, the housings consist of a corrosion-resistant phosphate coating over zinc chromate cast iron to resist the flaking commonly encountered with nickel plating. Housings can be supplied as pillow
block, 2-bolt or 4-bolt flange, or for drop-in installation. The self-lubricating bearing inserts (2XC5 internal clearance) are available in bore sizes 3⁄4 in. to 3 in. and 20 mm to 60 mm and the self-lubricating deep-groove ball bearings (4XC5
internal clearance) integrate high-quality bearing steel and a double-shielded design to protect against the potential ingress of contaminants.
