Emerson Bearing Boston’s new Pump Industry Division

January 27, 2020 By Mike Santora

Emerson-bearing-logo-imageEmerson Bearing Boston, a bearing company catering to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) markets around the world, has established a Pump Industry division dedicated to a fast-growing customer base, particularly in the oil and gas market.

Emerson Bearing’s Marketing Specialist Richard Furtado oversees the division. Furtado assists clients in determining which bearing technologies would be most suitable by taking into consideration the specifications, recommendations, maintenance strategies, fatigue life and wear resistance of the bearing in relation to the application.

Pumps, which move liquids through pressure, and compressors, which condense and transport air/gas may be found in just about every industry. From oil and gas to chemical processing, waste and water treatment, power generation, paper and mining, there are pumps and compressors working behind the scenes and around the clock.

Most applications utilize ball and cylindrical roller bearings, which are designed to withstand heavy radial loads, operate with low noise and vibration and have long service intervals.

Proper bearing selection is key to ensuring the pump’s optimal performance. Emerson Bearing recommends bearings that have been developed specifically for these rugged demands. They offer extra capacity and reliability through unique rolling element, cage geometries and high heat stabilization. These are especially designed to meet the harshest of API-60 pump standards. Four-point contact bearings are unique with their split inner ring. They accommodate high axial loads in either direction and in some cases, can replace a pair of angular contact bearings.

High performance lubricants and polymer filled cages can provide extended performance at a relatively low cost. For roller chain use in oil field or similar high stress applications, Emerson Bearing recommends chain that meets API 7F7 standards.

“We cater to a number of oil and gas clients in Texas and throughout the far west,” said Steve Katz, president. “Our pump, compressor and oil field market has grown significantly over the past couple of years. Our clients know they can rely on us for our vast inventory, competitive pricing and overall reliability.”
