Cost pressure, sustainability goals, influences from the market as well as environmental and renaturalization measures force operators of hydroelectric power stations to generate energy even more efficiently and profitably.
This can be done either by reconstructions or by investments in new technology. Minor measures can already make an important difference without incurring high costs.
With the new lubricating oil Klüberoil EE 1-46, Klüber Lubrication has found a sustainable solution for optimizing the efficiency of both existing and new installations.
“The turbine oil was developed in cooperation with a leading European manufacturer of hydroelectric power stations. The reduction of internal friction optimizes the efficiency loss in plain bearings. Klüberoil EE 1-46 complies with the requirements of the DIN 51515-2 standard. The high-performance lubricating oil can be used in all types of hydroelectric power stations, run-of-river power stations, storage power stations, and pumped storage power plants for oil-lubricated turbines and generators,” says Florian Held, global project manager hydropower, Klüber Lubrication.
The expert for specialty lubricants has used a new, unusual approach in developing the new oil. The aim was to manufacture an oil for turbines and generators which increases the efficiency in plain bearings of generators. The semi-synthetic plain bearing oil Klüberoil EE 1-46 can substantially reduce efficiency losses in generator bearings.
The new energy-efficient turbine oil shows a low foaming tendency and high oxidation stability. The use of Klüberoil EE 1-46 optimizes efficiency and extends oil change intervals, increasing the service life of components. Hence, cost savings can be achieved easily and efficiently. Klüberoil EE 1-46 also shows good compatibility with plain bearing materials.
