Igus’ iglide instead of needle bearings?

June 27, 2018 By Mike Santora

igus-iglide-bearing-imageFor years, iglide plastic bearings have been successfully replacing needle bearings. iglide plastics are injection-molded and embedded with solid lubricants, making the bearings 100% self-lubricating, maintenance-free and corrosion-resistant. Replacing a needle bearing with iglide can also reduce costs by 40% and extend service life dramatically.

Tests between iglide bearings and needle bearings were carried out in the igus in-house test laboratory on a standard test rig. The plain bearings were tested in their normal operation—dry without external lubrication—and the needle roller bearings were tested with and without lubrication.
